For Today

Outside my window…it’s snowing!  I love the snow!

I am thinking…about the possibility of being snowed in tomorrow.

I am thankful for…the snow!  I was hoping to see snow on furlough this year.  

I am remembering…years past being caught in a snowstorm that kept me stateside 5 days longer than I intended.  My header photo is a picture taken after that snowstorm.

From the kitchen…chicken piccata tonight.  It’s been years since I had that.  It was wonderful, especially since I didn’t cook it!

I am wearing…warm, comfortable clothes of which one item is a favorite brown hoodie that is pretty much worn out.

I am creating…a blog post at the moment.   =)

I am going…south in a few days.

I am reading…Under a Blackberry Moon by Serena B. Miller.  This series was recommended to me by a friend a few months ago and I am just now getting to it.  I wish I could find more time to read.  For my reading friends, where do you find the time?

On my mind…and in my prayers are some friends going through a difficult trial, but excited to see that the Lord is working.

Noticing that…I need some new socks.  =)

Pondering these words…Mark 6:31, “And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.”  I realized for the first time that this occurred directly after the disciples came and told Jesus that John the Baptist had been beheaded.  There must have been grief, fear and a multitude of other emotions.  Our Savior took them away to a desert place most likely so that they could rest, be comforted and receive some refreshment for their souls.

Outside my window…leaves are falling.

I am thinking…about the exciting days ahead.

I am thankful…that in 8 days my oldest son and his wife will be here.

In the kitchen…pumpkin bread for my English class ladies.

I am wearing…my go-to apron.

I am going…to teach one my English classes for the last time.

I am wondering…if I will ever get my Christmas shopping done.

I am looking forward to…all of my children in Japan for Christmas!

I am learning…to prioritize my to-do list.

Around the house…a scented candle is burning.

I am pondering…the Light of Christmas.

…missing my doggie as I decorate for Christmas this year.  She would have been 8 years old on 12/06.  She used to growl at my snowmen and we always took a picture of her in front of the tree each year.  Her eyes looked so sad in this picture.  Now I know why.

 Outside my window…the sun has almost set.

 I am thinking…about the nice day I had with a friend.

I am thankful…for God’s Word that gives peace in the middle of the storms of life.

 In the kitchen…nothing fancy, just leftovers.

I am wearing…something cool and bummy.

I am creating…a space to sew.

 I am going…to a language conversation class tomorrow.

 I am wondering…what happened to rainy season.

 I am reading…The Memory Jar 

I am hoping…for some cooler temps later this week.

 I am looking forward to…the ladies’ Bible study this week.

 I am learning…trust in the Lord on a new level.

Around the house…all is quiet.

 I am pondering…Philippians 4:6-13.

nothing today.  We had a BIG lunch out of shabu shabu.  It was yummy!

a blue and white patchwork skirt with a blue peasant top.  It’s so cool on this muggy day.

a cotton half-slip.  I’m tired of the nylon ones sticking to me.

nowhere the rest of the day.

It’s getting warmer and we have still managed to live without the air conditioner.  Money saved!!

Just a note:  This is a very busy month for us ministry-wise.  If you don’t hear from me often that is why.  I will try to post as I am able.  I have some things I want to share.  I am learning much in God’s school right now.  I’m also having fun serving the Lord (i.e. baby shower, upcoming church camp) and crafting.  Your prayers for us during this busy time are greatly appreciated.

Outside my window…

the sun has set and a gentle breeze is blowing.

about things that make me tired.

a safe trip back to Japan and special blessings that the Lord provided for me upon my return.

family that we left behind.

From the kitchen…

leftovers.

I am wearing…

cool, loose clothing.  We are trying not to turn on the air conditioner.

I am creating…

room for the items that are coming on the sea container.

I am going…

to the immigration office tomorrow.

I am hoping…

to finish quickly at the immigration office tomorrow.  =)

the dog whining.

the washer just finished.

I’m washing clothes that were in storage and don’t smell too good.

Outside my window…lots of beautiful white stuff!!

I am thinking…about final dinner preparations.

I am thankful for…a warm home and electricity.  In the past, we always lost our power during these times.

I am remembering…snow days with younger children.

From the kitchen…Italian pork chops with portobello mushrooms.

I am going…to have to go on the road again next week.

I am reading…Tidings of Comfort and Joy by T. Davis Bunn among other things.

I am hoping…this is the year…

I am hearing…my hubby typing and my son watching t.v.

Noticing that…it will be lonely around here in a couple of days when my older offspring return to their dorms.

Around the house…things are returning to normal.  Decorations are put away, but I am still burning a Balsam candle.  mmmmmm…
