Dying to Self

IMG_0814b

When your good is evil spoken of,
when your wishes are crossed,
your advice disregarded your opinions ridiculed,
and you refuse to let anger rise in your heart
or even defend yourself,

but take it all in patient, loving silence,

~That is dying to self~

When you lovingly and patiently bear any dishonor,
any irregularity or any annoyance;
when you can stand face to face with waste, folly,
extravagance, spiritual insensibility,
and endure it as Jesus endured it,

~That is dying to self~

When you receive correction and reproof from
one of less stature than yourself,
and can humbly submit inwardly as well as outwardly,
finding no rebellion or resentment rising up within your heart,

~That is dying to self~

  1. This is just what I need today, Kim. What a great reminder of what godliness looks like in real life. Usually what feels the worst is really the best thing for us in eternal value. Such a hard lesson, and so long in the learning.

Praying God’s peace in your heart today amid whatever He chooses to allow in your path. Thank you for being here and for your encouraging words. Memorizing 1 Peter this year, my 8th year memorizing two verses a day at your suggestion–best thing I’ve ever done. Thank you!

That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.
