beautiful Asuke in the fall

Contentment is being satisfied because God is working everything together for my good and for his glory.

Prayer for contentment:

Father, you give me everything that I need, and you have given me what I need most – forgiveness for my sin. Please help me to be content. Sometimes I struggle with being angry and feeling sorry for myself when I don’t get what I want. Please help me to be satisfied with your love and to rest in your perfect care. In Jesus name, Amen.

Ruth Younts – from Get Wisdom!

Parents this is a definition and a prayer that must be woven into your life before you can bring this truth to your children. No, none of us are perfect. We all struggle with contentment. This is where we can rejoice at the sufficiency of Christ’s work on the cross and embrace the beauty of repentance. As you repent from being discontent you can lead your children towards contentment.

As Ruth says, lack of contentment is a lack of satisfaction in God’s provision. We can say together with David, “The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.” Contentment with God’s provision is a precious gift you are to give to your children; don’t withhold it from them.

I think as Americans, where instant gratification seems to be the way of life, it really is hard to be content unless we keep our eyes focused on Him. I’ve enjoyed reading here again, Kim, as always. 🙂

  2. Oh I’m thankful to be more Nana than Mom these days. An important subject for sure…contentment. In my bible reading these days…rejoice in God….and glory….seem to be my gift to sense….what God is and what our inheritance is in him. Rich. Free. Joyful…hope this makes a little sense? lol.
