In the past, I have encouraged memorizing a passage, chapter or whole book. I have to confess that I have yet to memorize a whole book, but I am working on the book of Ephesians. It has been a challenge to say the least. This month, I am skipping ahead a little and working on the Ephesians 4:17-24. This is a passage that keeps coming up in a Bible study I am doing right now. It is something that I need to be reminded of on a regular basis: put off, renew, put on. If you don’t have anything you are working on now, I would encourage you to start here. This is a wonderful truth for Christian living. I will share here what I am learning on the way, some helpful hints for memorizing and some tools that I am using to help me in this spiritual discipline. I hope it will be an encouragement to you. Thanks for joining me!!
It helps me to use the Scripture Typer because it automatically tells me when I need to review verses. In memorizing whole books I get bogged down after a couple of chapters because I review them all at once. Hopefully this method will improve my overall success. It sends a reminder to my email, which helps too. Ephesians is on my list of books to memorize 🙂
I have to admit this is an area I have sadly neglected. A year or two ago I signed up with an online group to memorize Romans 8 – I thought it would be easy since I already knew a few of the verses. I still haven’t done it, to my shame.
The Scripture Typer mentioned above sounds helpful.
Romans was where I started with whole chapters. It’s a great one! The things I learned while memorizing it changed my life.
