White Lights

We have an artificial tree. I always put up the tree and put on the lights. I love real trees, but that is not possible in Japan. The kids put on their ornaments. Every year they get a new one. When they leave home and have their own tree, I will give them their ornaments. This is a lot of fun for all of us. Since the kids are older, the tree is getting a little small to hold all the ornaments!

As I type, I am sitting here looking at a tree lit up with white lights. The lights are beautiful.  There are so many things I love about Christmas, but I especially love white lights.  I don’t know why.  The light is pure and bright and maybe they remind me of snow.  I just love the soft white glow.  I know I said that already…

As I sit here looking at the lights, I can’t help but think of some of my favorite verses in the Bible about light.

Psalm 112:4, Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.

Psalm 119:105, Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Psalm 119:130, The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

Proverbs 4:18, But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

Matthew 5:14-16, Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

John 8:12, Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

I will be speaking about Jesus Christ, The Bright and Morning Star at the tea party on Saturday.   Please pray for my family and my health.  I have had a horrible cold this week and my daughter and son have come down with it.  My hubby is avoiding us like we have the plague.  I told you all that we have a history of this every other year and this is the other year.  I’m just glad it is happening now and not next week when we have the big church program and meal.  Please pray that we will get well soon and be able to keep going even though we are not feeling well.  I’m not sure if I will get to post again before the tea party.  I’ll be sure to do so afterwards!

  1. A beautiful post about a wonderful Saviour! I’m sorry to hear you have a horrible cold. I had one all last week. Its gone now and just a slight cough left. I will pray for you and for your family’ health. It seems like things happen at the busiest times of the year. ….your tree sounds lovely and I like the falling snowflakes on your blog. =)

  2. I love your lights – are they older lights? I don’t recall seeing that style. I’m sorry to hear you’re still feeling bad and that the kids have gotten it. I’m looking forward to hearing about the tea you hold. Take care! Jenn
