Every year at Christmas, we review with our children the reason for exchanging gifts. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son. . .”
Years ago, I had a friend challenge me to find something new from God’s Word about Christmas each year. This is a lesson from a past year that I have been meditating on. What does it mean to me that God gave me His Son? What exactly do I have because God gave His Son for me?
I have everlasting life. ~John 3:16
I have a Wonderful Counselor. ~Isaiah 9:6
I have no greater friend than Jesus. ~John 15:13
I have an intercessor at the right of God. ~Romans 8:34
I have a love that cannot be taken away from me. ~Romans 8:38-39
I have an example to follow in suffering. ~1 Peter 2:21-23
I have someone to go to for rest. ~Matthew 11:28-30
I have His continual presence. ~Matthew 28:20
I have peace. ~John 14:27
And the list goes on. . .
Maybe you can think of some more.
If so, I would love to hear from you!
I’m learning more and more – the comfort of Christ, the joy of salvation – how that translates into things in ordinary life – some days it’s almost more than I can figure but at the same time, I get it. Amazes me. Thank you for your list of scriptures and asking us to think about these things. Jenn
We truly are rich in Christ Jesus, aren’t we!
