Life and the Weather

Today was a bitter cold and extremely windy day. With no central heat, our kerosene heaters are working double time. Our house has a lot of “ventilation” it in. Doors and window are rattling throughout. I knew things were bad when I could hardly get in the car because the wind was fighting against me. When I watched the news tonight, I heard about several accidents in northern Honshu because of the wind. I was thankful that nothing serious happened in our area. I do wish we would get some of that northern snow in our direction. 🙂

Life abroad has some unique challenges. While adjusting to my life abroad, I have found that my dearest friend is the Lord. He goes before me and He knows the way that I take. When I am lost, He helps me find my way. When I am lonely, He cheers me. When I need understanding, He gives me wisdom. I could not this do without Him. I used to think that missionaries were super saints, until I became one. Now I know better. I am no different than you, the reader. I have the same struggles and human frailty as every other human being. I have found that God gives grace to do whatever it is He wants you do, whether it is collecting garbage or serving Him in a foreign land. Life is all about Him and what He wants.

“And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee;
he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee:
fear not, neither be dismayed. “
~Deut. 31:8

    A beautiful truth to be reminded of…that life is all about God and what he wants. ‘Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.’ sorry to hear you have bitter weather too. So do we, I’d love to just stay in but have a cello lesson tonight. I can’t even imagine what life would be like living in a foreign country. Maybe the word…’foreign’ is a clue?..smile.

    Thank God, He is always with us and will never leave us nor forsake us. I loved that scripture. I have a dear friend in the hospital who is having a very hard time. I claim it for her. :o)
