None of us like trials or hardships, but these are the things that God uses to drive us to His side and teach us more of Himself. This powerful quote from Elizabeth Elliott’s A Path Through Suffering: Discovering the Relationship Between God’s Mercy and Our Pain is something someone shared with me and I wanted to share it with you.

“We cannot make ourselves holy. But when we surrender ourselves to the Lord, learning day by day to treat all that comes to us with peace of soul and firm conviction that His will governs all, He will see to our growth in grace. He will so govern the events in our lives, down to the smallest detail, as to provide for us the conditions which may make us fruitful. It is not for our sake but for the sake of others. The beauty of the flower is not for itself. It offers itself to God’s sunshine and rain, gives its fragrance to any who pass by, but it must wither and die before the fruit can be produced.”

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory
which shall be revealed in us.
~Romans 8:18

Hi Kim! Thanks for your kind words. I’m grateful this quote spoke to your heart as well as mine. Elisabeth Elliot tells it like it is, doesn’t she? Btw, I love your blog! And all the ‘tea’ things on the sidebar. I have that very exact teapot…the Old Country Roses pattern. Thinking about pulling it out and using it more. Maybe start having monthly friendship / prayer teas or something. Wish you could come!Blessings & hugs from Atlanta,Vicki

That is a beautiful quote from Elizabeth Elliot. Thanks so much for sharing it.I will keep Victoria in my prayers as she passes through this difficult time. I’m so glad that He is always there in our trials because we can know that victory is at the end of whatever we are enduring.

Connie from Texas posted about going through trials also. I’m so thankful that we go ‘through’ the trials and then we are free of the sorrow or stress…for a time anyway. Sorry I haven’t gotten around to posting the ‘Favorites’ meme. I will yet…eventually!
